Korshak, Erle

(1923-2021) US fan (active in Fandom from 1934), Convention runner, book dealer, publisher and lawyer who in 1947 co-founded the important early Small Press Shasta Publishers (which see) with T E Dikty and Mark Reinsberg. He was one of the organizing triumvirate of the first Chicago Worldcon, held in 1940. His career as lawyer and businessman took him away from fandom for decades after the demise of Shasta Publishers in 1957; he returned in the late 1980s, and in 1996 was inducted into the First Fandom Hall of Fame.

With his son Stephen D Korshak (1952-    ) he briefly resumed small-press publishing in 2009 as Shasta-Phoenix, based in Orlando, Florida. This produced From the Pen of Paul: The Fantastic Images of Frank R. Paul (graph 2009; vt Frank R. Paul: Father of Science Fiction Art 2010), a collection of classic sf Illustration by Frank R Paul.
