(1839-? ) US author whose novel of interest, Among the Immortals, in the Land of Desire: A Glimpse of the Beyond (1916), is set in a Utopian Afterlife [see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below] where relations between the sexes (see Feminism) seem clement; of specific sf interest in the tale is the use of telescopes – which, given the atemporal nature of this Afterlife might be thought of as Time Viewers – to witness the devastation of World War One.
