Young, Ella

(1867-1956) US writer deeply involved in the US version of Theosophy, and friend of Kenneth Morris. In her own writing she focused on Celtic Fantasy. The Wonder Smith and his Son (coll 1927) and The Tangle-Coated Horse and Other Tales: Episodes from the Fionn Saga (coll 1929) are Twice-Told tales based on Irish material. The Unicorn with Silver Shoes (1932) illus Robert Lawson is an original tale, though resembling both Morris and James Stephens in its telling of the trip of an Irish hero to the Afterlife, where he meets Angus, the laughing god and others.
