Webber, Collin

(1939-    ) UK writer whose first novel, Merlin and the Last Trump (1993), was a runner-up in the BBC/Gollancz competition won by John Whitbourn. The romp involves Merlin and one of Arthur's Knights in Time Travel to modern London and beyond, into an sf future and the abode of a Demon planning humanity's destruction in a Last Battle (with 80% success, souring the often genial Humour); Plot Devices include Wishes and a sentient, murderous Spell. Ribwash (1994) is a sequel. [DRL]
