(1935-    ) UK writer who began with the Mennyms YA sequence – The Mennyms (1993), Mennyms in the Wilderness (1994) and Mennyms Under Siege (1995), with further volumes projected – about a Wainscot family of rag Dolls who come to life after the death of their human maker, and who because they are lifesize are able to live inconspicuously in a suburban home in the north of England.
