(1952-    ) US painter, illustrator and writer whose Photographing Fairies (1992), set in 1920s England, makes Recursive use of Arthur Conan Doyle's belief in the Cottingley Fairies. Told in the first person by a gullible young US photographer, the novel unfolds its narrator's slow discovery that Fairies exist. [JC]
