(1965-    ) US writer who has published only the Contemporary-Fantasy college novel Fool on the Hill (1988), which he wrote in his early 20s. Its many overt influences include Folktales, Magic Realism, Thomas Pynchon, J R R Tolkien and debatably the movie Knightriders (1981). MR's style is surprisingly accomplished for such a young writer. A second novel was scheduled for 1996. [JG]
