Ruark, Robert C

(1915-1965) US author best-known for novels like Something of Value (1955) and Uhuru (1962), concerned with Kenya. Of fantasy interest is the short Grenadine sequence – Grenadine Etching: Her Life and Loves (1947) and Grenadine's Spawn (1952) – which recounts in a Tall-Tale idiom the life and devastating career of the eponymous Witch, responsible for the cigarette and the invention of advertising, and of her rambunctious descendants.
