Prager, Emily

(1952-    ) US writer and humorist; she has worked as contributing editor and columnist for magazines such as National Lampoon and Penthouse. Her extravagant fictions often take the form of Fabulation: some of the tales in A Visit to the Footbinder and Other Stories (coll 1982), notably the title story and "The Lincoln-Pruitt Anti-Rape Device: Memoirs of the Women's Combat Army in Vietnam", verge on alternate history (see Alternate Realities). Clea & Zeus Divorce (1987) portrays the eponymous gods as a contemporary celebrity couple. [GF]
