Pike, Christopher

Pseudonym of US writer Kevin McFadden (?   -    ). Most of his novels, which have been immensely successful, are suspense or Horror, although some qualify as fantasy; generally they are for the YA market. Chain Letter 2: The Ancient Evil (1992; vt Chain Letter 2 1992 UK) is fantasy (although the volume to which it is a sequel is not) in that it reveals that the novels' protagonist was, in fact, possessed (> Possession). Horror novels with fantasy elements include The Last Vampire series – The Last Vampire (1994), #2: Black Blood (1994) and #3: Red Dice (1995) – the Remember Me series – Remember Me (1989), #2: The Return (1994) and #3: The Last Story (1995) – Witch (1990) and Spooksville #1: The Secret Path (1995). Scavenger Hunt (1989) and See You Later (1990) are Time-Travel fantasies.

CP began publishing adult fiction with Sati (1990), whose eponymous heroine claims to be God. The Season of Passage (1992) and The Cold One (1994) are adult horror novels. [GF]
