Millar, H R

Tagged: Artist.

(1869-1940) Prolific UK illustrator, with a fine pen-line style. His work, mainly for children's books, has a lively, imaginative charm and a distinctive sense of design. He is particularly remembered for his illustrations to the works of Rudyard Kipling and E Nesbit. Millar was a great collector of Eastern works of art and ancient weapons, and these enthusiasms are often reflected in the strong sense of history evident in his work. [RT]
