McEvilley, Thomas

(1939-    ) US essayist and novelist, much of whose nonfiction, like Art & Discontent: Theory at the Millennium (coll 1991), addresses questions of Modernism and Postmodernism in the visual arts. North of Yesterday, or Flowers of Waz (1987) is a Dream novel featuring a variety of Underliers like Orpheus and Death. Central to the text is the 2000-year-old "author's" sequel to Homer. [JC]
