LaFarge, Tom

Working name of US writer Thomas LaFarge (1947-    ); he is married to Wendy Walker. His first published stories, "The Image Breaker" (1991) and "Amont, Aval" (1991) are fantasies based upon the Bestiary of Marie de France (fl1160-90). These and other formally innovative reworkings of "fables" are collected in «Terror of Earth» (coll 1996). The Crimson Bears, Part 1 (1993) and its sequel A Hundred Doors (1994) comprise a mannered and elaborate fantasy set in an imaginary and richly populated world of Talking Animals. [HW]
