Jones, J V

(1963-    ) UK writer, in the US from the mid-1980s, whose Book of Words sequence – The Baker's Boy (1995) and A Man Betrayed (1996), with a further volume projected [published as Master and Fool (1996)] – has many of the airs and devices of a conventional High-Fantasy epic set in a Fantasyland, complete with the eponymous Ugly Duckling of the first volume, whose name is Jack, and a massively intriguing Edifice, Castle Harvell, in which the old King lies dying.
