(1894-1969) UK writer best-known for her sf novel, Man's World (1926), but also the author of a fantasy of considerable interest: Melusine, or Devil Take Her! (1936) is a Fantasy of History set in 12th-century France, where the destinies of the potentially significant rulers of the earldom of Poitiers are controlled by Secret Masters whose goal is to oppose the continued rise of Christianity (> Thinning), advocating in its stead a devotion to the values of the old Earth. The Shadow of a Dream (1952) is Supernatural Fiction. [JC]
