(1894-1969) UK writer best-known for her sf novel, Man's World (1926), but also the author of a fantasy of considerable interest: Melusine, or Devil Take Her! (1936) is a Fantasy of History set in 12th-century France, where the destinies of the potentially significant rulers of the earldom of Poitiers are controlled by Secret Masters whose goal is to oppose the continued rise of Christianity (see Thinning), advocating in its stead a devotion to the values of the old Earth. The Shadow of a Dream (1952) is Supernatural Fiction. [JC]
