Furey, Maggie

(1955-    ) UK writer whose fantasy sequence, the Artefacts of Power – to date Aurian (1994), Harp of Winds (1994) and The Sword of Flame (1995) – is a heavily plotted, fast-moving Quest tale, perhaps rather overloaded with Plot Coupons. The much-harried female protagonist survives bereavements, pregnancy and the kidnapping/death of more than one lover, but looks likely to prevail over the Dark Lord who has been manipulating her life and her world, which is a fairly unremarkable Fantasyland.
