Freas, Kelly

(1922-2005) US illustrator best-known for his sf artwork, though his ability to portray fantastic creatures has endeared him to devotees of fantasy. His first professional appearance was on the cover of Weird Tales for November 1950, and he was the featured artist in the Fall 1990 issue. His portfolios include Frank Kelly Freas (graph 1957), Frank Kelly Freas: The Art of Science Fiction (graph 1977) and Frank Kelly Freas: A Separate Star (graph 1984). [MA]
