Dennis, Ian

(1952-    ) Canadian writer. His Arabian Fantasy Bagdad (1985) and its direct continuation The Prince of Stars (1987) make great use of Eastern folklore, retold in an ornate oral storyteller's style; the many individual moral tales related by the characters are ultimately much more satisfying than the Frame Story, which is an adventure tale of the overthrow of the caliphate by a political/religious leader, and of a chase across Arabia.
