(1949-    ) US editor, fiction editor of Omni from October 1981; she is primarily known for her work in sf, having also edited seven spinoff anthologies of Omni material plus five further books of Omni-associated work, some of it original. She is secondarily known for her work in Horror, in particular for the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror sequence (anth 1988-current) co-edited with Terri Windling, with Windling handling the fantasy and ED the horror. Also with Windling, ED has edited three volumes of tales – some Twice-Told, some Revisionist Fantasy, some combining both – Snow White, Blood Red (anth 1993), Black Thorn, White Rose (anth 1994) and Ruby Slippers, Golden Tears (anth 1995). ED has also edited the Vampire anthologies Blood Is Not Enough (anth 1989) and A Whisper of Blood (anth 1991). [JC]
