Danielle

Blonde female star of the UK daily newspaper strip Danielle (London Evening News 1973-1974; graph coll 1974 US), drawn by John M Burns and scripted by R O'Neill; she spent most of her time/space travel adventures in a state of bedraggled near-nudity. Scripted by Dennis Hooper, she made a brief (54-day) reappearance in 1978. The basic premise of the seven stories concerned an Amulet that "wrenched" D and her lover, Zabal, "through the unknown dimensions of time and space" to alien planets, Earth at various times in its history and, in the last story, alien spaceships adrift in space. D was notable for the expertness of Burns's drawing. [RT]
