Conrad, Peter

(1948-    ) Australian-born writer and critic, in the UK since the late 1960s. His work as a literary critic and as a speculative writer on Opera is of indirect fantasy interest. More central is To Be Continued: Four Stories & Their Survival (1995), which treats the corpus of Western literature as a Cauldron of Story, arguing that Story itself centrally shapes our sense of community and individual identity – an argument familiar to students of Fantasy. PC's one novel, Underworld (1992), is an uneasy Urban Fantasy sans fantasy. [JC]
