Cole, Allan

(1943-    ) US tv scriptwriter (e.g., The Rockford Files) and author, all of whose work has so far been in collaboration with Chris Bunch, and who concentrated initially on sf. Their only fantasy work is contained in the Antero sequence – The Far Kingdoms (1993), The Warrior's Tale (1994) and Kingdoms of the Night (1995) – a set of Heroic Fantasies starring, in Amalric Antero himself, a strapping but melancholic yearner after action and ultimate repose, hopefully the latter to be achieved only after much zestful effort and, with an air of mild transcendence, in some sort of Shangri-La. The venues bear a Land-of-Fable resemblance to the medieval Middle East. [JC]
