Burford, Lolah

(1931-2002) US writer. In her Timeslip fantasy The Vision of Stephen: An Elegy (1972) the movement is unusually forward in time. The protagonist, the son of an Anglo-Saxon princeling, is treated brutally by his father, and escapes – though at first only by means of mental contact – to early-19th-century England, where he eventually finds genuine refuge.
