Broster, D K

(1877-1950) Prolific UK writer. Her Supernatural Fiction is restricted to two books, A Fire of Driftwood (coll 1932) and Couching at the Door (coll 1942). As with the famous title story of the second collection – in which a decadent artist (> Decadence) is haunted by a familiar he has himself unleashed – her work in this area generally involves violations of the natural world, and retributions which uneasily seal things together again.
