Brock, H M

(1875-1960) Younger of the two prolific illustrator brothers (see C E Brock) who worked in a shared studio in Cambridge on a vast range of books and magazines in a strongly competent pen-line style. HMB was the more fanciful of the two, although his drawings did not until later in his career have a clarity comparable to that of his elder brother; by this time it was difficult to distinguish their work. He and his brother illustrated almost every leading author of their period. [RT]
