(1945-    ) US writer best-known for her first novel, A String in the Harp (1976), in which connections between contemporary life in Wales and a fantasy world derived from Celtic Fantasy and the Arthurian cycle (see Arthur) are beguilingly woven. The Voyage Begun (1981) is YA sf. In Another Shore (1989) a young woman finds herself in a Time-Travel trap, locked into 18th-century conflicts in pre-Revolutionary America along with other trapped travellers. [JC]
