Baker, George A

(1849-1906) US lawyer and writer whose Mrs Hephaestus and Other Short Stories, Together with West Point, A Comedy in Three Acts (coll 1887) contains some work of interest. The protagonist of "Mrs Hephaestus" is a seductress with a bronze complexion, and it may be assumed from her name that she has been forged by the Greek god of fire and Smiths. In "The Spirit of the Age" a property sale forces a transference of Faerie to Central Park. [JC]
