Pseudonym of Irish writer Edmund Downey (1856-1937), author of some sf (see SFE) and fantasy, the latter including: A House of Tears (1888 US) as by ED; Brayhard: The Strange Adventures of One Ass and Seven Champions (1890), which is humorous; and The Little Green Man (1895), in which an exported leprechaun starts the Gold Rush in California. FMA was an author of whimsy, sometimes with bite. [JC]
