William L Crawford Memorial Award

Generally referred to simply as the Crawford Award, this was named for William L(evi) Crawford (1911-1984), a seminal Small-Press publisher and editor active from around 1933 until the 1970s. Selected by a panel of judges, the Award is given each spring for the best first fantasy novel published during the previous 18 months and is presented under the auspices of the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts at its annual conference. The prize, $100, is sponsored by Andre Norton. [JC]
