Title used by Scottish writer James Carnegie (1827-1905) for some purposes, though his first Lost-Race novel, Herminius: A Romance (1862), was issued anonymously. The protagonist finds in North Wales a race of Giants who come from a land soon to be covered by the sea. In Suomiria: A Fantasy (1899) a lost race of miscegenate creatures, half-ape and half-goat, is discovered. [JC]
