Haldeman, Linda

Tagged: Author.

(1935-1988) US writer whose first fantasy novel, The Lastborn of Elvinwood (1978), imports Merlin into a Contemporary-Fantasy setting where a proposed exchange between a Fairy and a human child must be dealt with. Esbae: A Winter's Tale (1981) features a conflict between the Angel-like eponymous spirit and the Demon Asmodeus, who has been conjured up from Hell by an incompetent university student. Haldeman's work, not excessively ambitious, was told with wit. [JC]

other works: Star of the Sea (1978).
