Tagged: Theme.

In some of the legends of Arthur, the stroke or blow delivered by Sir Balin that led to the Waste Land and the need for the Quest for the Holy Grail (in other versions the blame is attached to Perceval for failing to ask the Fisher King the meaning of the Grail). It is first referred to in the Suite de Merlin (thirteenth century) and in Book II of Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte Darthur (1485). [MA]
